Wales

Wales is a captivating part of Britain not to be missed, and once there, you'll find a warm welcome awaits you. The country is rich in history and culture and steeped in myth and legend. Wales is predominantly rural with a population of approximately three million people of which some 60,000 are farmers. The Welsh countryside is grassy and hilly making Wales more suited to livestock farming than crop cultivation. Livestock farming is of significant commercial importance to rural Wales with the preservation of the family farm critical to the maintenance of Welsh culture and the scenic beauty of the Welsh countryside and landscape. The country is famous for its sheep, of which there are more than 10 million, outnumbering people by more than three to one. Cattle farming for beef and dairy products is also common.

Aberystwyth

Set in the beautiful unspoilt scenery on the shores of Cardigan Bay, the landscape, flora and fauna of the Aberystwyth area are quite outstanding. Several Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) are close to the town; red kites are a common sight overhead and bottle-nosed dolphins and harbour porpoise can be seen offshore. As a major tourist centre, Aberystwyth has a wealth of restaurants and good places to eat as well as plenty of general leisure activities and facilities.
